J&K LG Mandates BGSBU Curriculum Redesign for Innovation

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has directed Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) in Rajouri to redesign its academic curriculum. The revamped curriculum must promote innovation, foster cutting-edge research, and focus on nation-building initiatives. Sinha issued these instructions during the ninth executive council meeting of BGSBU, held recently at the Lok Bhavan.

During the meeting, Lieutenant Governor Sinha called for a comprehensive review of BGSBU’s existing curriculum. The objective is to position the university as a leading center of excellence, enhancing its academic standards and research.

Focus on Modern Curriculum and Future Technologies

Sinha emphasized the critical need for a modern curriculum. He directed BGSBU to introduce attractive new courses. These must align with student career aspirations and current industry demands.

Key areas for new course development include Artificial Intelligence (AI) , Machine Learning (ML) , and other emerging digital technologies. These additions aim to equip students with relevant skills for the future job market.

“By shaping minds, we can shape a brighter future for India,” Sinha stated. “The future of the nation is shaped on the university campus, so we must reimagine education for a brighter tomorrow.” He urged the university to design a curriculum that inspires innovation and advanced research.

Skill-Centric Education and Institutional Accountability

The Lieutenant Governor called for a renewed commitment to skill-centric education. This prepares students with practical abilities for professional success. He stressed creating effective learning spaces for the next generation.

Sinha also directed the university to ensure strong institutional accountability. This measure ensures BGSBU remains responsible for its educational outcomes and operational efficiency. The focus is on delivering high-quality education and student support.

Addressing Local Problems and Supporting Tribal Students

BGSBU received directives to identify and provide innovative solutions to localized problems, specifically in tribal areas. The university must engage directly to develop relevant interventions.

Furthermore, Sinha instructed the university to ensure ample opportunities for tribal students. This promotes inclusivity and equitable access to quality higher education.

New Infrastructure Projects Underway

During the executive council meeting, Lieutenant Governor Sinha virtually laid the foundation stones for several new infrastructure projects on the university campus. These developments will enhance student living and learning environments.

  • A new Girls’ Hostel will be constructed specifically for nursing students, providing dedicated accommodation.
  • An Indoor Sports Complex will be built under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) scheme. This facility will support various athletic activities.
  • A Rooftop Solar Power Plant will also be installed. This project promotes sustainable energy use and reduces the university’s reliance on traditional power sources.

Administrative and Operational Directives

Sinha issued clear directives for administrative operations. He mandated executive council meetings every six months. This ensures regular oversight and timely decision-making.

The executive council previously reviewed several academic and administrative issues. It granted in-principle approval to various agenda points presented. These decisions support BGSBU’s strategic direction.

These directives outline a forward-looking vision for Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University. The university must transform its educational framework to meet future challenges and contribute to regional and national development.
