Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main 2026

There is no upper age limit for candidates applying to JEE Main 2026. Applicants must meet specific academic requirements:

  • Candidates should have passed or be currently appearing for their Class 12 examination.
  • Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry must be among the subjects studied in Class 12.
  • A minimum of 75 percent aggregate marks in Class 12 is required.
  • A reduced minimum of 65 percent aggregate marks applies to candidates from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories.

Understanding JEE Main

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is a national-level entrance test. NTA administers this examination annually. How to Register for JEE Main 2026 Session 1

The entire registration process for JEE Main 2026 Session 1 will be conducted online. Candidates must visit the official NTA JEE Main website to complete their application. Follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Visit Official Website. Access the official JEE Main website at jeemain.nta.nic.in .
  • Step 2: Locate Registration Link. Click on the link titled “JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Registration” available on the homepage. This link will activate once registration opens.
  • Step 3: New User Registration. For first-time applicants, select “New Registration.”
  • Step 4: Provide Basic Details. Enter essential information including your full name, date of birth, email ID, and a valid mobile number.
  • Step 5: Create Password and Obtain Application Number. Set a secure password. Submit the details to generate your unique application number. Record this number for future reference.
  • Step 6: Log In. Use the newly obtained application number and your chosen password to log in to the application portal.
  • Step 7: Complete Application Form. Fill in all required personal information, educational qualifications, and select your preferred examination details.
  • Step 8: Choose Exam Cities. Select up to four examination cities based on your preference.
  • Step 9: Upload Documents. Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and any other specified documents. Ensure these files adhere to the format and size requirements mentioned by NTA.
  • Step 10: Pay Application Fee. Pay the non-refundable application fee using an online payment method. Options typically include credit card, debit card, net banking, or Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
  • Step 11: Final Submission and Printout. Submit the completed application form. Print a copy of the submitted form for your records.
