JEE Main 2026 Final Answer Key Released; 9 Questions Dropped

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the final answer key for the JEE Main 2026 BE and BTech Paper 1 exam. Nine questions have been removed from the exam. Over 13 lakh students who took the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 exam can now calculate their estimated scores. This can be done by comparing their response sheets with the released final answer key.

Exam Details and Answer Key Release

JEE Main Session 1 exams were conducted from January 21 to January 29. The NTA posted the provisional answer key on February 4. Students had until February 6 to submit objections. Each objection required a fee of Rs 200 through the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Objections and Answer Key Changes

The Coaching Federation of India (CFI) and students identified 17 errors in the provisional answer key. They claimed 10 questions should receive bonus marks. Other discrepancies included incorrect numerical values, unclear questions, multiple correct answers, and wrong options.

Following these objections, the NTA has dropped 9 questions from the final answer key. This means these questions will not be counted towards any candidate’s score.

Next Steps for Candidates

The NTA plans to announce the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 results by February 16 . Candidates not satisfied with their Session 1 scores can apply for the JEE Main Session 2 exams. Registration for Session 2 closes on February 25 .

The final rank will be based on the best score from either session. Candidates who have already registered for Session 2 only need to pay the application fee.
