ISC Biology Exam March 6: Timings, Pattern, Key Units

The Indian School Certificate (ISC) Class 12 Biology exam is scheduled for March 6 . The exam starts at 2 pm . Students should arrive at exam centers 40-45 minutes early.

Some international exam locations, including parts of the UAE and Middle East, will have their Biology exams postponed. CISCE will announce new dates later for these centers.

Exam Structure and Passing Criteria

The Biology exam has two parts: theory and practical. The theory paper is worth 70 marks . The practical component accounts for 30 marks .

Students have three hours to complete the written theory paper. An additional 15 minutes of reading time is provided before the exam begins.

To pass the ISC Class 12 Biology exam, students need a minimum of 40% . This score is required individually for both the theory and practical sections.

Biology Exam Pattern

The question paper is divided into four sections: A, B, C, and D. Section A is mandatory. It includes multiple-choice questions and very short-answer questions.

Sections B, C, and D contain a mix of question types. These include short-answer, long-answer, and case-study questions. They assess conceptual understanding and application of biology.

Key Biology Units for the Exam

Students preparing for the ISC Biology exam should focus on these core units:

  • Genetics and Evolution : This unit has the highest weightage. It includes analytical and problem-based questions on heredity and evolution.
  • Reproduction : Covers reproductive processes in humans and other organisms. This unit can be a scoring area if concepts are clear.
  • Biotechnology : Focuses on principles and applications of biotechnology. Questions are often predictable.
  • Ecology and Environment : Includes ecosystems, environmental issues, and biodiversity. This unit is regularly tested.
  • Biology and Human Welfare : Covers human health, diseases, and the role of microbes.
