India Moves Students from Tehran Amid Iran-Israel Conflict

India’s embassy in Iran has moved most Indian students out of Tehran due to the escalating security situation. The relocation occurred Tuesday amid heightened regional conflict. Iran and the US/Israel have exchanged attacks in West Asia.

Students Relocated

The embassy stated the move was necessary because of increased risk in Tehran. Students were moved to locations outside the capital. Transportation, food, and accommodation were arranged for them.

A small number of students who refused the embassy’s offer remain in Tehran. For all other Indian nationals in Iran, the embassy reiterates previous advisories. These include staying indoors and away from windows.

Safety Advisory

Indians in Iran are urged to remain vigilant. They should avoid protest areas. Regular contact with the embassy is advised.

Approximately 9,000 Indians, including students, are estimated to be in Iran. The exact number of students is unconfirmed.

Regional Conflict Intensifies

The conflict escalated after Iran launched strikes targeting Israel and US bases. These follow earlier US and Israeli attacks on Iran. Strikes hit targets in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.

Iran also blocked the Strait of Hormuz shipping route. This action caused a rise in global oil prices.

Casualties Reported

The US military reported six personnel killed in the conflict. The Iranian Red Crescent Society stated at least 787 people died in US-Israeli strikes. Reports indicate 11 people died in Israel.
