IIT Roorkee Quantum Computing & AI Course: Apply by Nov 23

IIT Roorkee has launched the Advanced Certificate in Quantum Computing: Algorithms and AI/ML. This 6.5-month online program trains professionals in quantum computing, quantum communication, and AI/ML. Applications for the program close on November 23, 2025 .

The program uses Qiskit, PennyLane, and IBM Quantum Systems for practical learning. It is offered through the Continuing Education Centre (CEC), IIT Roorkee, in collaboration with TimesPro.

Program Focus

The curriculum covers quantum internet protocols, secure communication, and quantum machine learning. Participants will code and simulate quantum algorithms.

They will apply Quantum Machine Learning (QML) to practical use cases. These include applications in finance, healthcare, optimization, and drug discovery.

Key Learning Areas

  • Quantum communication protocols: Quantum Key Distribution, teleportation.
  • Quantum cryptography, including Shor’s, Grover’s, and Simon’s algorithms.
  • Advanced QML models: QSVMs, QNNs, Quantum GANs.

Course Structure

The program provides over 300 learning hours. This includes synchronous and asynchronous sessions, assignments, and case studies.

A 30-hour Capstone Project allows participants to deploy projects. Successful completion leads to a certificate from CEC, IIT Roorkee.

Modules:

Module Description
Introduction to Quantum Computing and Applications Foundational concepts and uses.
Quantum Algorithms and Software Hands-on algorithm development.
Quantum Communications and Networks Protocols and secure communication.
Quantum Machine Learning Theoretical QML principles.
Quantum Machine Learning Applications Practical QML deployment scenarios.

Program Statement

Kaushik Ghosh, Coordinator, CEC, IIT Roorkee, stated the program links theory and deployment. He noted participants will learn to code, simulate, and benchmark quantum algorithms. Ghosh added the program prepares engineers and researchers to move prototypes into production-grade pilots across security, optimization, and data-intensive applications in finance and healthcare.
