JAM 2026 Exam Details

The JAM 2026 exam covered seven subjects. These include Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS), and Physics (PH). Candidates can download their individual response sheets from the official website.

Admissions Through JAM

The JAM 2026 score is a key factor for admissions to various postgraduate programs. Approximately 3,000 seats in IITs and around 2,300 seats at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) will be filled. These admissions are for the 2026–27 academic session through a centralized counseling process. IIT Bombay has stated there will be no further interviews or suitability tests for admissions.

Admission to programs such as MSc, MSc Tech, MS Research, MSc-MTech dual degree, Joint MSc–PhD, and MSc–PhD dual degree will rely on JAM scores. Participating institutes will use these scores for selection.

Result and Tie-Breaking Policy

The official results for JAM 2026 are scheduled for announcement on March 20. Candidates can check their results on joaps.iitm.ac.in. In cases of identical scores among candidates, a specific tie-breaking policy will be applied. The ranking will consider the ratio of positive to negative marks first. Next, NAT marks will be evaluated. Following that, MSQ marks will be used. Finally, the candidate’s date of birth will determine the rank, with older candidates receiving preference.
