The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad has opened applications for its Summer Research Internship Scheme (SRIS) 2026. The program offers undergraduate and postgraduate students across India an opportunity to conduct research.
Program Tiers and Eligibility
SRIS 2026 divides participation into three categories. Category-I is for B.Tech students. Category-II is for postgraduate students including M.Tech, M.Sc., and MBA candidates. Category-III offers long-term research internships lasting six to twelve months for B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc., and MBA students.
The selection process prioritizes academic merit and research potential. Applicants from IITs, NITs, IISc, and similar institutions require a minimum CGPA of 7.5. Students from other recognized universities need a CGPA of 8.0 or above. Applicants must have no active backlogs and no disciplinary actions.
Application Requirements and Fees
The application fee is ₹500. This fee is non-refundable and payable online. Applicants must submit a research proposal of approximately 500 words and provide recommendation letters. A valid institute ID is also required.
For Category-III participants, an institutional No Objection Certificate (NOC) is mandatory. These interns may also be required to pay semester tuition fees.
Stipend and Support
Selected interns in Category-I and Category-II under the institute-funded option may receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000. This stipend is provided for a maximum of two months.
Interns receive temporary identity cards for campus access. This includes facilities like the library, sports complex, and health center. The health center offers free outpatient consultations and hospital stays.
Category-III Details
Category-III allows for extended research projects from six to twelve months. There is a limit of five self-funded students per department for this category.
Successful completion of the internship requires consistent daily attendance and satisfactory midterm and final presentations before a departmental committee. Interns will receive certification upon meeting these requirements.
