IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for Int’l Students; Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi opened admissions for international students to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are due March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Interested candidates must apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Application Process

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters.

Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude. They will assess proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking will also be evaluated. English oral and written proficiency is also a factor.

Eligibility and Requirements

Admission requirements may include scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other accepted tests are Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) score is also considered for PhD and PG programs.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must also submit English language proficiency test scores. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.

Selection Criteria

IIT Delhi will admit students based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
