IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window is open to international students . The deadline for submission is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM IST.
Eligible candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in . Applications are for the academic years 2026-27 .
Who can apply:
Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration detailing their English language proficiency. They also need to list two referees who can submit recommendation letters.
The official notification states referees will assess candidates on overall aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Academic and Standardized Test Scores
Submission of scores from national-level Indian entrance exams may be required. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) , Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) , University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) , or DST INSPIRE .
International examination scores are also considered. Applicants may need to submit results from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) .
English Proficiency Tests
Candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted tests include TOEFL , IELTS , TOEIC , OPI , OPIC , and the Cambridge English Examination , or other recognized language tests.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
