Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can supply recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national-level entrance exams. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also accepted. These include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include:
- TOEFL
- IELTS

- OPI

- Cambridge English Examination
- Other recognized language tests
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
