IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in.

Academic Qualifications and Testing

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International standardized tests are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
