IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Application Details

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Interested applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. The official website for applications is international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Admission Criteria

Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

English proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Admission decisions will be based on interview performance.

Interview Process

Students with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The committee will evaluate candidates for their suitability for the program.
