IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Eligible candidates can submit their applications online at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details for International Students
The application window is open for the academic year 2026-27. Non-Indian nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, can apply. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from recognized national or international examinations. These include:
- National Exams: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, DST INSPIRE
- International Exams: GRE, GMAT
English Proficiency Tests
Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
