IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply. Applications are being accepted for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Process

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Selection Criteria

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty committees in their respective disciplines.

Proof of English language proficiency is also required. This can be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Applicants must submit these scores as part of their application.
