Admission Details
The application window is open until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applicants must provide a statement declaring English language proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referee Recommendations
Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking abilities, and English communication skills. This assessment is a key part of the application review process.
Eligibility and Scores
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit scores from tests like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview. Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
