IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the 2026-27 academic year .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. The application portal is available online at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency . They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These letters will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scheme.
International examination scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered. Additionally, applicants must submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests, including TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview . Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
