Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Process and Requirements
The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 . Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like GRE and GMAT may also be considered.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.
Selection Criteria
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
