IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate programs . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal: international.iitd.ac.in .
The programs are for the academic year 2026-27 . Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Admission Requirements
Referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is according to the official IIT Delhi notification.
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE . International exam scores such as GRE and GMAT can also be considered.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination .
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation for this interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
