IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Details

The application portal will remain open until 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026. Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide letters of recommendation. Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for admission. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores, such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), are also accepted.

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
