IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. International students can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Applications are accepted through the official website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Details

The admission portal for foreign national candidates will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. This includes non-Indian nationals and individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This assessment is part of the notification requirements.

Eligibility and Testing

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee. The committee will evaluate candidates in their respective disciplines.

The academic year for these programs is 2026-27 .
