IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills, according to the institute’s notification.

Academic and Test Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from tests like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores, such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), are also considered.

Proof of English language proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is mandatory.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. The interview panel will evaluate their suitability for the program.
