IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
The application portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. A committee of faculty members will interview candidates with strong academic records.
