IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, are eligible to apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Interested candidates must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills, according to the institute.

Admission Process and Requirements

IIT Delhi will consider scores from national and international standardized tests. Applicants may need to submit scores from tests such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International tests like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required. Furthermore, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on the candidate’s performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
