IIT Delhi has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Application Process
Prospective students must apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026. Applicants need to submit a self-declaration of English proficiency.
Candidates must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations regarding the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission requirements may include scores from national-level entrance examinations like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE . International students may also submit scores from exams such as GRE or GMAT .
Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC , or the Cambridge English Examination. A statement of English proficiency is required during the initial application.
Selection Criteria
The final selection will be based on performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview panel will assess candidates’ suitability for the program.
