IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window for the 2026-27 academic year closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM.

Admission Details for International Students

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are to be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities.

Academic and Entrance Exam Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level Indian entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) awards.

IIT Delhi also accepts scores from international standardized tests. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

In addition, applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
