IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Open for International Students

Foreign nationals can apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in . The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This requires a self-declaration of English language skills.

Candidates must provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Required Examinations

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE awards.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be considered.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
