IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Details

The deadline for submitting applications is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply for these programs for the 2026-27 academic year.

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to assess the candidate’s aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include national examinations like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. This interview will assess their suitability for the program.
