IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Eligibility for International Students

Eligibility is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. They also need to provide names of two academic referees.

Referee Recommendations

Referees will evaluate candidates. Their comments will focus on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. These evaluations are part of the application review process.

Required Entrance Exam Scores

Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) for engineering programs. Other relevant tests include Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). For research-focused programs, DST INSPIRE scores may be considered. International test scores like GRE and GMAT are also accepted.

English Language Proficiency Tests

Proficiency in English is mandatory. Applicants must provide scores from recognized tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other language proficiency tests may also be considered.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on interview performance. Those with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
