IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations. Their feedback will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International test scores such as GRE and GMAT may also be considered.

Candidates must also submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
