IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students | Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to provide a self-declaration of their English language skills. Two referees are also required to submit recommendation letters.

Admission Process

Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. IIT Delhi will consider scores from standardized tests. These may include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.

International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Admissions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with faculty members from their chosen discipline.

English Proficiency Tests

Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, or similar language assessments. These requirements ensure candidates can effectively communicate in an academic environment.
