Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply.
Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The institute is accepting applications for the academic year 2026-27.
Admission Requirements
Candidates must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Applicants may submit scores from any recognized language proficiency test.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
