IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Eligibility and Requirements

Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done via a self-declaration.

Candidates need to nominate two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters. They will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.

International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination may be required.

Admission Process

Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
