IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applicants can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Process Details
Candidates must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Indian Tests: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
- International Tests: Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
