IIT Delhi opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are accepted via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program.
International examination scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. This panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
