IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students can submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal: international.iitd.ac.in .

Eligibility for International Students

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration or statement. Candidates also need to provide details of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Admission Requirements

The application process requires candidates to submit information about their academic background and research interests. The recommendation letters from referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.

For PhD and PG programs, IIT Delhi may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Further, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG courses for international students will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
