IIT Delhi has opened admissions for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply online.
Admission Details
Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. The online application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills. This information is according to the official IIT Delhi notification.
Eligibility and Scores
Candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) score may also be considered.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
