IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students pursuing PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

The application portal is international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills, according to official notifications.

Eligibility Criteria

Admission may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on interview performance. Those with strong academic records receive interview invitations.

An interview committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the assessment.
