IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admissions Overview
The application window is open for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications will be accepted until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. This includes candidates who hold Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT may also be considered.
Candidates are also required to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
