IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi has opened applications for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

The application portal is accessible atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

To be considered for PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE awards.

International examination scores are also accepted. This includes Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview.

The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. This process assesses a candidate’s suitability for the program.
