Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. Eligible candidates can apply through the official website,international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility
The programs are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They must submit a self-declaration of their English language skills. Two referees will be required to provide recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Academic Requirements
Admission may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores. English proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The interview assesses the candidate’s suitability for research and advanced studies.
