IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application portal remains open until March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students can submit their applications via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration.

Application Requirements

Applicants need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. They will be asked to assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Academic Assessments

IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests. For PhD and PG programs, this can include scores from the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) is also an accepted assessment.

International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Furthermore, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Final admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. An interview committee, composed of faculty members from the relevant discipline, will conduct the interviews.
