Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.
Admission Process
Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Candidates need to provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency.
Applicants must also list two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations. Their comments will cover a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
IIT Delhi may require scores from national tests for admission. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Department of Science and Technology (DST) INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. Interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
