Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are accepted through the official website, international.iitd.ac.in .
The application window closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. Eligible candidates can apply for admission for the academic year 2026-27.
Eligibility Criteria
The institute accepts applications from non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who can submit recommendation letters.
Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills, according to official notifications.
Admission Requirements
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examinations are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
