The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. International students can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Prospective students must apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . Applications are for the academic year 2026-27 .
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Both PhD and PG programs are available.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement detailing their English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted for recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking, and English language command. This information is according to the institute’s official notification.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.
International exams like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered. Candidates may also need to submit scores from English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interviews.
