IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in.

The application portal will close at 4 PM on March 30, 2026. The admissions are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Eligibility and Requirements

Non-Indian nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. These include scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.

Admission Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
