IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM.

Eligible candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The academic session for these programs begins in 2026-27 .

Eligibility Criteria

Non-Indian nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. The referees will evaluate the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

To be considered for admission, candidates may need to submit scores from national or international standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program. International exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

English proficiency can be proven with scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will grant admission based on an interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will assess their suitability for the program.
