IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Process

Candidates must submit a statement on their English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.

International test scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests, including TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. The committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
