Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals can apply for admission for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
The application window closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 .
Eligibility Criteria
Individuals who are not Indian citizens are eligible. This includes those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They must also nominate two individuals to provide recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude. They will also comment on proficiency in the chosen field, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. Accepted tests include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
