IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Interested students must submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Process and Requirements
The application window closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026 . Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will be contacted to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Selection Method
Admission decisions will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel of faculty members. Applicants must also provide scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
